Report Card Memo Jan 26

Teachers:
Your report card data for Term 2 is ready. I have a floppy disk for each of you. This data MUST be imported into your eTeacher before you start to build report cards for Term 2.

Steps:

1) Setup tab. Click.
2) Click "data files"
3) Click "Import"
4) There is a warning message which says you should only import data into an empty eTeacher, because the import process will wipe out any previous student list, marks or comments, and replace it with the data on the disk. Click "Proceed"
5) In the bottom window which says "type of file", click the pop-up arrow
6) From the pop-up list, select "tab-separated text"
7) In the top window which says "look in", click the pop-up arrow
8) Select the location of your data source. 3.5" Floppy A is most likely.
9) Look for your data file. Select it by clicking.
10) Click Open to begin the import of data.

You won't need to do this again. Complete your report card work as usual.
You may use your floppy disk to store a backup copy of your data as you work. To create a data file on your floppy disk (replacing the old one that was imported), follow these steps:

Submitting a data file. This is an "export" function. This
means you are taking data from your eTeacher program for the purpose of a) giving
it to your report card administrator at school b) having a backup copy of your
data. When you do this, you will only have the marks and comments for the current
lists of students. Nothing from your library of comments will be exported. Submit
a data file whenever you've added new marks or comments.

  1. Click Report tab.
  2. Click "submit data file"
  3. Click "Submit" button.
  4. Click OK.
  5. To save data file on a floppy, put the floppy in the computer now. If not using a floppy, click Cancel.
  6. At the bottom of the Save window, select Tab-Separated text from the pop-up list for "type of file".
  7. Type the name of your data file. Make sure it includes your surname. If you are replacing a previous data file, select the same file name and confirm "Yes" when asked if you want to replace it.
  8. Store the disk safely in a protected place. Transfer the data to me either by attaching it to an email message, or by bringing the floppy disk to me.

Thanks everyone! We're getting really good at this.
