Training is Love

It's so hard to train a kid. You get so caught up in correcting the behaviour, again and again, that you lose the joy in the relationship. It becomes cast more as a contest of wills than as a friendship.

"To love a child is to train him," is what my wife said in response.

"But it will be so long before we see the benefits of this kind of love. It may be a lifetime before our training, feeble and inconsistent as it is, will produce fruit; even then it will only be by God's grace."

We both were left feeling that it is the only way to be the parents God wants us to be. We will train our children as God enables us. God help us!
