This is the crunch of the technical writer/event promotor.
By the time the instructions are written and in the hands of the students, the work time will upon us. But, if I don't get the documentation together, no one knows what the heck is going on! I'm working at getting the Animation project materials together, and eventually will put them on line.
While I'm doing the technical writing, I'm thinking of other possibilities around the "closing event" that will help bring deeper meaning and motivation to the students: the Animation Awards. This event has tons of potential.
I designed a poster for the Viscount Montgomery Animation Awards, which will also be the front page of the Awards program. Flash of inspiration: get on the phone to the big guys at Macromedia and personally invite them to the Awards. OH yeah, and also the Director of Education Chris Spence...who else should we invite? Local software and hardware sellers? Future shop rep? How about if we asked them for some prizes? Advertise in the program? Probably should invite my mom and dad, and all of the parents. That means a letter home...

An Invitation
The Viscount Montgomery Animation Awards are coming! This year marks the eighth consecutive year of animation creation at Viscount Montgomery School. Your grade eight child has been working hard over the past weeks to complete a multi-task, multi-media project that uses the latest computer technology and taps into their imagination and creativity.
We'd like to invite you to attend our special awards ceremony on June 7 at 10 AM in the auditorium of Viscount Montgomery School.
Our June awards ceremony will showcase the finished animation movies, and will include some special guests, prizes and refreshments.
We hope to see you there, in support of your child's work, if you can make it!
